The Hogwarts Legacy State of Play offered fans a deep dive into what exactly the open world Harry Potter game has in store, highlighting various game mechanics, features, characters, and more that fans can look forward to when the game launches next month. However, the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play first aired nearly a year ago, and as evidenced by new gameplay videos released since then, some small details have certainly changed in the game.

As spotted by TikTok user wizardphd, Hogwarts Legacy has made some small changes since the State of Play presentation. In a recent video, the TikTok user pointed out how the Latin seen in the stained-glass window during the Sorting Ceremony has changed since the State of Play. In the State of Play version of the Sorting Ceremony, the Latin says, “Verum discit verae magiae” which wizardphd says roughly translates to “the Truth learns the true magic” or “in a true way ‘he’ learns the true magic.” However, if fans watch the Hogwarts Legacy video that reveals Headmaster Black, played by Simon Pegg, the Latin has seemingly changed to “Omni nunc magiae magistra” or “to every magic now master.”

This isn’t the only change pointed out by wizardphd, though the other one points out a difference between the Hogwarts Legacy reveal trailer and the State of Play presentation. In the Hogwarts Legacy reveal trailer, a date could be spotted on the Hogsmeade sign, but as seen in the State of Play presentation, the developers have apparently removed it. It’s unclear why these changes were made.

Video games go through all kinds of changes during development, and Hogwarts Legacy is certainly no exception to that rule. While it’s unlikely fans will ever know the full scope of everything that’s changed with Hogwarts Legacy during the game’s development, they will at least get to explore the game world for themselves sooner rather than later. The Hogwarts Legacy release date is right around the corner, and it will be in players’ hands in a matter of weeks.

Hogwarts Legacy launches February 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming April 4, and a Switch release dropping July 25.
